Abortion rights have won every time they've been on the ballot since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.
Tuesday's off-year elections proved the recent staying power of abortion rights to bolster Democratic success, even in red states like Ohio and Kentucky.
Ohio voters added the right to abortion into the state constitution — a major win for abortion rights in a ballot measure.Democratic Gov. Andy Beshear kept his seat in the deep red state of Kentucky, after an election often defined by his support for abortion rights.Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R) failed to gain control of the state legislature. It means he will not be able to pass his 15-week "limit" on abortions — and casts a shadow over a potential 2024 presidential bid.

I believe that the right to a safe and legal abortion would result in reduced deaths from childbirth, abuse cases, and preventing

Government controls and mandates should never dictate what a person can or can’t do for themselves. It doesn’t make it right, but the government shouldn’t take control of these actions.
@9GT392JPeace and Freedom6mos6MO
People get more choices and rights when it comes to abortions.
@9GT4JVHRepublican6mos6MO
I think abortion should be illegal. If you make that decision and get pregnant that is your fault not anyone else's and that little human growing inside of you has a right to live and not be killed.
@VulcanMan6 6mos6MO
No one has the right to use another person's body without their consent, so the fetus does NOT have the right to exist in someone else's body if it is unwanted.
@9GTH47T6mos6MO
It is ultimately up to individuals who it affects directly, and they should not be denied the right to their own choice and not be influenced by others beliefs.

Ohio just enshrined the right to an abortion into the state constitution. Young people & women were fired up, turned out, and made Republicans find out. Turns out that abortion is a kitchen-table issue & Democrats can run on it & win. Another big win for Democrats.
Interesting… are you saying that Dobbs kicked abortion back to the states, and the states are holding elections based on the will of the people?
That seems like a win for states rights and the Dobbs decision.
@PumaSummerDemocrat7mos7MO
The states that are not being allowed to vote are against the will of the people.
Every state has a right to vote… that’s how it works.
If the state legislatures pass bills signed by Governors, then they can vote in new representatives and Governors who pass different laws.
That’s how Democracy works.
When unelected, lifetime appointment SCOTUS justices legislate from the bench with Roe (legislation concealed as a ruling), that’s when the will of the people is ignored.
@PumaSummerDemocrat7mos7MO
They are not bringing this issue to an open vote in most states because they know what will happen.
The GOP is on the wrong side of this issue and the Supreme Court gave them the final nail they needed for their coffin.
@Patriot-#1776Constitution3mos3MO
There is no "right" to alienate the God-given right of others to life via murder, and it is disgusting and Hitleresque what Ohio did. The 14th Amendment says no state shall deprive its inhabitants of LIFE, or liberty, or property, without due process of law – I know the 14th Amendment is a garbage pseudo-Amendment, but if the Left is going to use it to justify their atrocities, it's time conservatives use it to pass a federal abortion ban & stop this madness.
@9GT3KDS6mos6MO
I think that abortion should be pro-choice I truly believe that everyone has a choice. Nobody should tell you what to do with your body. Your choices and your body should forever be left to the women's choice. The government should have no say in what to do with your pregnant body.
@9GSYRRT6mos6MO
i think its important because abortion needs to be illegal
@9GSTZRV6mos6MO
I think that reporters focus more on selling the story rather than feeling for the problem
@lemans3427Republican6mos6MO
Republican donors are perfectly comfortable running candidates with extreme views on abortion. But they will not tolerate candidates opposed to forever war. This is why the GOP is the party of performative opposition — destined to lose, unimportant even when they win.
@9GSZMPDRepublican6mos6MO
The Republican need to improve their messaging on what their stance on Abortion is.
@9GT5QQLRepublican6mos6MO
I think it is insane that people are able to kill an innocent soul and get away with it.
@9GT3C3X6mos6MO
abortion should be illegal only in cases of rape it can be allowed
There shouldn't be abortion laws
@9GSWCFL6mos6MO
Our right as women to an abortion should be protected at all costs, and these dirty capitalist pigs need to keep their hands off of our bodies.
Sad. So many innocent lives being killed because of selfishness and inconvenience. None of these supporters can say they care about the deaths in Israel of young kids- B/c that is the same thing as this.
@9GT592Z6mos6MO
Abortion should not be legalized in any stance.
@9GSWFLL6mos6MO
I think abortion should be illegal unless in cases of rape or incest. I believe woman should take full responsibility in their actions.
@Bbewlisa 6mos6MO
Women deserve to have their bodies protected as equally as men and unborn people.
@9GT6DKQ6mos6MO
Abortion should be illegal in every situation. Abortion should be a crime.
@9GTG52C6mos6MO
abortion is 100% a religious issue! Leave religion and constittutional rights separate!
@VulcanMan6 6mos6MO
“abortion is 100% a religious issue!”
Abortion is just a medical procedure, but yes, religion doesn't belong anywhere near laws or government either.
@9GTHGBWIndependent6mos6MO
People should be able to choose what is best in their situation. The government should not provide funds to pay for abortion.
@9GV2L936mos6MO
My opinion on this new topic is that women should not have the right to abortion unless it was caused by rape or anything under those circumstances.
@9GTWSJP6mos6MO
Abortions is a right that everyone has
